Divorce In Nevada
Nevada has always been well-known for it's ease of getting married as well as divorced. In fact, in 1931 the legislature passed the most lenient law of any state by reducing the residency requirement prior to filing for divorce from 3 months to 6 weeks. Recent statistics show that about 13.9% of residents over 15 years of age have been divorced, compared to a national average of 10.8%. Spouses do not need to prove any fault and there's no "cooling off" period. If there are no unresolved issues, it can be finalized in as few as a couple of weeks.
Nevada EDCR 5.07 Mandatory Parent Education Class
In Nevada both parents with children under the age of 18 must attend a COPE class within 45 days of filing for divorce. This program is designed to help children better deal with the changes of divorce. Topics covered include how to address the child's emotional and behavioral reactions to divorce, improving stress, anger and conflict management, effective communication skills and basic family stabilization strategies. The divorce cannot be finalized until both parents comply with this mandate. Online classes like ours are often accepted.
