Everyone who has a child wants to bring that child up as well as possible. It’s a parents dream to give their kids everything they didn’t have themselves as a child. That being said, only a parent knows that earning a good living isn’t all being a parent is about. To gain the skills to make you the best parent possible, we have accumulated a number of methods and techniques that will help you create ideas to make sure you’re the best parent possible for your little ones.

1. Never Compare
The classic parenting mistake from days past is the comparison between siblings. Words like, “Why can’t you be more like your brother?” These types of comparisons can cause long-term confidence and success problems. Other comparisons, like taunting him that his sister or brother is way better than he’ll ever be at sports, or math, or even fishing.

The best idea is to just never compare your kids openly to them. If you know one is better at an event, game, or school, keep that fact to yourself. Don’t compare, instead help them practice more efficiently so they can actually improve.

2.  Action Over Words
For parents moving through the younger years of their child’s lives, the hardest thing to do is punish them. Babies of course are devoid of punishment, they’re babies. But when they are old enough to know the rules and are able to learn the concept of right and wrong, the parental action will always have a larger impact on how to behave than you verbal rules or anything you can say to them.

Even if your kid(s) are very young they are learning from your every move and action. Let’s face it, a kids life revolves around their parents. By acting as an example of the behavior you want from them, such as telling them to pick their toys while you leave your room a mess and then ask them to compare the two rooms and tell you which of the rooms they think is more tidy and more welcoming, you will produce the best results for your time, effort, and children most of all.

3. Don’t mommy Your Kids
Ever hear of the term “Momma’s Boy”? It is the term that is used on most playgrounds to describe a child is over cuddled and “mommied”. It is crucial to let your kids make their own mistakes from time to time. By all means assist your kids if necessary, but if you don’t let your children learn from their mistakes they will never know how to solve a problem without getting someone to do it for them.

So, remember, if you don’t want your kids being the school yard bully’s target, lay off of the constant “do for” mode. At home for starters, let them spill their cup while getting juice, they’ll learn how to control it and after a couple tries you won’t have to help them anymore or watch them pour it.

These are only a few, but highly important, tips that can help you gain the skills to make you the best parent possible.  Gain great parenting skills by taking a parenting class.  From CT, to CA, they can even be done online!
